Saxony's capital, Dresden, is renowned for its unique culture and iconic landmarks such as the Zwinger, the Frauenkirche, and the Semper Opera House—and in recent years, also for staircase projects by markiewicz.
What could be more beautiful for an artisan than completing a challenging staircase project in Dresden’s Old Town, the green district of Blasewitz, Loschwitz, or the former villa suburb of Weißer Hirsch? Since 1996, the name markiewicz has stood in Dresden for quality, artisanal excellence, and innovation in staircase construction. Our design staircases are one-of-a-kind, crafted individually in our in-house manufactory. With years of experience and a deep passion for our craft, we are proud to be your trusted partner for exceptional staircase projects.
Our Reference in Dresden
Dresden, the old royal residence and today’s capital of Saxony, continues to undergo constant architectural transformation. Since 2017, the residential solitaire has risen into the sky. We were deeply honored when the construction company FIRA entrusted us with the task of equipping a penthouse in this remarkable building with a folded staircase featuring a glass balustrade. Inspired by the timeless Bauhaus style, this staircase design impresses with its minimalism. The clean geometric form and straight lines of the folded staircase blend perfectly with the overall aesthetic of the residential landmark, distinguished by its cubist facade. We look back on this exceptional project with sincere gratitude.

More Customer TestimonialsAward-Winning Wooden Stairs by Markiewicz
At markiewicz, crafting staircases is more than just a profession—it's our passion. That’s why we are deeply honored that three of our staircases have been awarded the prestigious title of “Staircase of the Year.”
In 2012, we won in the category “Extravagance” with our exclusive stringer staircase in the Art Deco style, realized in a city villa in Berlin. The staircase features white lacquered stringers made of ash wood, paired with steps of smoked oak. This wooden staircase was completed with a forged railing adorned with characteristic Art Deco ornaments.
The same honor was bestowed upon us in 2018 for one of our most intricate staircase designs. With stylistic influences from Antoni Gaudí, this organic staircase was brought to life with an extraordinary, hand-carved railing. Now recognized as perhaps Berlin’s most artistically ambitious wooden staircase, it graces a penthouse in the heart of the capital.
In 2019, we received yet another “Staircase of the Year” award, this time in the category “Architecture.” In collaboration with Prof. Dr.-Ing. Architect Paul Kahlfeldt, this Art Deco masterpiece was crafted for a villa in Berlin. The bold design contrasts featured black granite steps and intricately profiled hardwood stringers, flawlessly paired with a meticulously executed metal railing, completing this architectural triumph.
